AGM- Belleville, Ontario, Canada
Minutes NAMGBR- Annual General Meeting
10/24/2009 Submitted by Denny Elimon Secretary NAMGBR
Prior to the Annual General meeting, the NAMGBR Officers and invited guest
were driven on a guided caravan tour of the beautiful Belleville area. The
caravan tour featured a drive along the proposed routes for MG2010 with stops
at various points of interest. A special thanks, to Johan Petersen, Peter
Mittler, Stuart MacFarlane, and Toronto MG Club members for serving as host
for the pre event tour. Members and guest should mark their calendars now
for MG2010-this will be another memorable event.
The meeting was- called to order at 1:04 p.m. by presiding Chairman Bruce
Wyckoff. The Chairman began by describing the purpose of the meeting and presented
an outline of the agenda for the meeting. The Chairman encouraged all participants
to feel free to make comments advising everyone that he favored a meeting
in which everyone could participate. The Chairman introduced two new officers,
Kim de Bourbon as Vice Chair and Denny Elimon as Secretary. He thanked them
for serving and their contribution during the year. After which he had everyone
stand and introduce themselves to those in attendance and indicate where they
were from and what car they owned.
After introductions, Chairman Wyckoff called for a motion to approve the AGM
minutes from the previous AGM meeting, as published in the Jan/Feb 2009 issue
of the MGB Driver . A motion was made and accepted that the minutes be approved
as submitted.
The following Officer reports were- submitted:
CHAIRMANS REPORT -Bruce Wyckoff
Bruce presented that the North American MGB Register is completing our 18th
year and things have never been better. Our membership is high, our bank balance
is strong and the MGB Driver is widely accepted as the definitive magazine
for all things MGB, MGBGT and 1100/1300 Sedans.
Briefly, here is a recap of the 2009 calendar year:
-Our membership has climbed to over 2,000 members
-Successful publishing and distribution of the MAD book before MG2009
-We had over two hundred cars registered for MG 2009
-We have a new Vice Chair and Secretary that stepped up and been welcome additions
to the Executive Board.
Sadly, we have to say goodbye to a loyal advertiser in University Motors in
Ada , Michigan. The good news is John Twist is staying on as the Technical
Coordinator for NAMGBR
So, On behalf of the officers, Coordinators and Registrars of North American
MGB Register, I want to thank the members of NAMGBR for making 2009 one of
our most successful years ever.
We would like to put out a big thank you to the members of the Toronto MG
Club for hosting the Annual General Meeting and for being the host chapter
for MG2010 next June.
Under new business, I am pleased to announce that the Executive Officers have
voted to name our traditional annual awards in honor of our members- The Enthusiast
of the Year award will become the John Twist & Caroline Robinson Enthusiast
of the Year Award. The Best News Letter of the Year Award will become the
Ken Smith Award for- Best News Letter of the Year and the Don Hayter Top Points
Award for the top point car during the concours judging.
Motion was made to name awards after members, a voice vote was taken members
overwhelming approved the change. Comments made in support of the recommendation
from members in attendance in strong support.
Respectfully submitted
Bruce Wyckoff Chairman
Vice Chairmans Report-Kim de Bourbon
It has been an interesting first year as Vice Chairman. One bonus of this
job is getting to have great conversations, both by phone and email , with
MG owners across the country.
First off, I must confess that I did not get as organized in the beginning
of my term as I should have been. While insurance certificate requests that
came my way were processed promptly I did not establish a good record keeping
system until recently. By my count, there have been 28 insurance certificates
issued so far this year. Many requests came first through me as vice chairman
which was a new procedure this year. Other request where were sent first to
Denny or to Jerome, the office manager. I also believe some clubs may have
submitted the forms directly to J.C. Taylor, as they were accustomed to doing
so in the past.
I will work this coming year to reinforce the proper procedure, which is that
requests are made to
the vice chairman. who then confirms the club as a NAMGBR affiliate in good
standing before sending the request to JC Taylor.
Ive also updated the insurance, F.A.Q document which I send to a number
of clubs who had inquiries. This will be a part of the package going out to
clubs on an annual basis.
The other critical part of the vice chairman job is acting as liaison to the
affiliate clubs. I was also a little slow off the mark getting up to speed
with club contacts at the beginning of the year, but did work with Rick Brown
to set up online affiliate request and renewal forms on the NAMGBR web site.
We received five re-affiliation and one club application through the web site
not as many as I would have liked, but it was a start. The online forms, when
filled out and submitted get emailed to the vice chair, the secretary and
the webmaster simultaneously, making this an efficient way to keep our records
up-to-date.
Coordinating club contact information is a real challenge, especially as I
have not had access to the NAMGBR membership database but will continue to
work on improving this in 2010. We need to set up and maintain a club email
list, so that re-affiliation reminders and other NAMGBR information may be
emailed out to club presidents and or newsletter editors.
Until the online system is more used and accepted, it is obvious that re-affiliation
letters will still need to be sent out in the mail in 2010. The letters will
encourage clubs to use the online form, but also include a paper form to use,
if they choose.
Now that I had a year of NAMGBR duty under my belt, Im in a better groove,
and plan a full-blown club connection campaign at the beginning of the new
year, There is much we can do to build our relationship with affiliated clubs,
and to attract new affiliates.
Respectfully Submitted-
Kim de Bourbon Vice Chairman
Secretarys Report- Denny Elimon
Denny thanked the current and past officers for their assistance during the
first year as Secretary. With a special thank you to Bruce Wyckoff Chairman
and his wife Connie for their service to NAMGBR and Jerome Rosenberger for
assisting with the Secretary change. He noted that it had been a pleasure
to serve everyone.
After completing one year as Secretary, he recognized our members and affiliate
chapters that worked with him to maintain our records. This has been a rewarding
experience for me to meet and greet our members and to work with our affiliate
chapters during the year.
Membership has continued to grow over the year our membership now stands at
over two thousand active members. I am pleased to report that during the year
we signed up two hundred thirty plus new members. We now have ninety- two,
affiliate clubs. I would like to welcome our new clubs the Virginia British
Car Club & the Lawrence All British Car Club. We encourage all clubs to
become an affiliate chapter; the advantages of affiliation; provides your
club with many benefits.
Once again, I would encourage our members to invite fellow owners to join
us-our best recruiters are our current members
To members that have remained active over the years, we appreciate your continued
support-your officers will remain dedicated to the continued success of our
organization. We will strive to serve you and to maintain our status as the
worlds best MG owner organization. We will soon be entering year twenty
of our organization, we hope to make year twenty special for all our dedicated
members. Our growth and success is directly traceable to our individual members
and chapter clubs-you are the backbone of our organization
We especially thank all of the members with a zero prefix in their membership
numbers. If you have an opportunity to find a member with a zero prefix membership,
number; take time to recognize their dedication; as they are the founders
of NAMGBR.
-Respectfully Submitted
Denny Elimon Secretary

Meeting Notes:
After the Officers reports; Registrars and Coordinator reports were
presented or read to those in attendance. Reports presented included: Editor,
Advertising Coordinator, Convention Coordinator, Publicity Coordinator, 100,000-200,000
mile Registrar, Pull Handle Registrar, Convention Coordinator, Regalia Publicity,
etc.
Editor Report- Robert Rushing
Robert made a presentation indicating that he would be doing a free- lance
report since he preferred it to reading a report. He acknowledged and Thanked
Charles de Bourbon for his contributions with the Driver. Comments were made
from Officers and others in attendance regarding the quality of the Driver.
A comment was offered that a large part of our growth of NAMGBR, can be traced
to the Driver, especially since the change to full color. Robert thanked everyone
for the contributions and stated that everyone should keep their articles
coming.
Advertising Coordinator- Charles de Bourbon
Advertising for 2009 was a year of change. In short, all advertisers are paid
up or in the process of sending in their remittance. Some advertisers were
slow in sending in their checks and this could be due to the down turn in
the economy. There were two advertisers that dropped their advertising, a
business card, and a full- page advertisement. Yet with the downturn in the
economy; we gained a business card advertiser and a business card advertiser
that upgraded to a full-page advertisement.I feel that as the membership grows
so will the interest in advertising, the readership of the MGB Driver goes
well beyond NAMGBR members. MG car clubs around the country find the MG Driver
a great source of information and entertainment. Members need to seek out
possible advertisers and bring that information to my attention, Potential
advertisers could be found in every car show our members attend. There will
be another mail out to our member clubs requesting them to spread the word
about advertising. Hopefully- it will generate interest. Advertisers
feel supporting NAMGBR and the MGB Driver, are funds well spent keeping NAMGBR
going.
As always, it has been a pleasure to serve as the Advertising Coordinator
for the MGB Driver.
Respectfully submitted Charles de Bourbon

Publicity Coordinator Richard Liddick
The following report was presented by Richard Liddick Publicity Coordinator.
For 2009, I posted information about MG2009 meet at Breckenridge, CO. NAMGBRs
annual convention on various web auto events calendars and with both the MG
Car Club and the Mg owner Club. I give credit to Charles de Bourbon . While
Chaz works with Robert Rushing on the production of the MGB Driver and is
in charge of advertising, he manages to find time to put video clips on You
Tube featuring the register. This title should really go to him-Thanks Charles
Respectfully submitted- Richard Liddick
100,0000-200,000 Mile Registrar Jai Deagan
The following report was submitted from Jai Deagan;- 100K & 200k Registrar.
There is a two and 1-1/2 year supply of dash plaques (13) for the 100k registry
and probably close to 100 plaques for the 200k registry, I will be checking
into ordering more in the future.
The database; contains 163 cars with nearly 150 members. Some members have
registered more than one car in this sub-register. There were 6 members who
requested to join the 100k Register and two that requested to join the 200k
since my last report. There was a first this past year. A member sold his
car to a new owner who joined the Register and transferred the 100k membership
to the new owner.
The new members to this sub registry this year were new members, the two who
submitted to become 200k Registry also joined the 100K at the same time. Both
of these were a result of having contact with them at the convention in Breckenridge.
Many different models on MGs are represented; in the Registry. The greatest
majority have been MGB or MGBGT. Members have joined this sub-register from
North to South and from coast to coast. It appears that a majority of the
members of this sub-register are still members in good standing of NAMGBR.
I still get an occasional request to join this registry from persons who are
not members. When this occurs, I send them a polite response with information
on joining NAMGBR.
Respectfully submitted- Jai Deagan
1974 ½ Registrar Scott Perry
The following report was read- into the record at the AGM as was submitted
by Scott Perry. Hello all I am sorry I could not be here for the meeting.
I am, however, happy to report all is well as far as the 1974
½ Register goes. I took over back in January and quickly made sense
of the fine work Steve Harding had done over the many years he held the post.
We had about 140 cars registered when I weeded out the duplicates and incorrect
entries. I have since added 50 + so we are definitely going in the right direction.
With my re-introduction article in the MGB Driver a few issues ago, we generated
a decent response from the 74 ½ crowd. I have heard from a few members
re-confirmed their entry as well as provided some current photos and progress
reports which Ill use in future editions. I am continually scouring
eBay or online BBS groups for new (to us) cars for the register as well as
informing prospective owners about the register and NAMGBR in general. Through
my articles in the MGB Driver, I am hoping to build on this resurgence of
the 74.5 register and get more owners involved and excited about these unique
cars .
Respectfully Submitted -Scott Perry
Concours Coordinator Paul Hanley
The following report prepared by Paul was read; into the records. I must step
down as Concours Coordinator- for NAMGBR. Unfortunately, the economics
of running a small business is too taxing these days to afford the required
time to perform the Coordinators duties.
I have spoken to Mr. Robert Gloyd about the Coordinators leadership and, he
is indeed interested. He is included in this email. In my conversation with
him, I mentioned that I was not familiar how a transition should
take place
does a Coordinators position need a vote or some procedural?
Please let me know. As for Bob-he is highly qualified and needs little introduction.
He has judged - Concours events; numerous times and ran Concours at MG2007
in my absence. He is a concours enthusiast; he will serve the program well.
As for me ---what an honor it has been! Thank You for entrusting me. I am
happy to assist in the transition in any way I can.
Safety Fast-
Paul Hanley
MGB Limited Edition Registrar MGB/GT Special Registrar Ken
Smith
The following report read-into the records from Ken Smith. I submit this report,
which I think, has ably demonstrated the growth of the NAMGBR over the past
year.
We currently have information on file, of 3,150 MGBs. There is approx
a 5:1 ratio of Roadsters to GTs
Of these 395 are MGB Limited Editions
137 are 1967 MGB/GT Specials
All Pull Handle MGBs in addition to the 74 ½ models are included
in the main database.
I have continued to supply regular articles for the MGB Driver highlighting
members cars, and information, which I think members need to know and
enjoy. We get lots of input from members and others, especially from overseas.
With Denmark, Holland, Spain, Australia among them! Of course, we maintain
strong links with the UK including people who worked at the MG factory.
Speaking of which; it will be thirty years this coming year 2010; since the
factory closed its doors. I am proposing to revisit 1980 in a series of articles
for the Driver. I think it would be interesting to ask members where they
were when they heard the news that the MG factory was to closed. (or- had
been closed)
We still need to encourage members to Register their MGB with
me via the NAMGBR web site or by the form enclosed with new membership applications.
We would also ask members to notify changes of address, or I they sell their
MGB to pass membership information on to the new owner.
I would like at this time to give credit to Robert and Charles for the continuing
excellence of the MGB Driver, also to Denny for his hard work in recruiting
new and prospective members. Also, to you Bruce, for your Chairmanship over
the past four years-you will be a hard act to follow.
Finally with the approval of the Chairman , Robert, and Chaz, I propose in
the new year to compile a supplement to the Limited Edition information, which
has emerged since I published a book on this model. This will be available
only to members who have registered their L.E. with the NAMGBR and will be
a non-profit operation funded by myself.
Respectfully Submitted-Ken Smith
